Its football season again! This is my favorite time of the year! What’s not to love about cooler weather, great food and hanging with friends? In Texas that just means being able to be outside and not melting! I just laugh when other wives complain about football season because during the Fall I live for the weekends, especially college football. The majority of our vacations center around football games and for the most part, I’m OK with that!
I am definitely torn about the Aggies decision to leave the Big 12. I love our A&M/Tech weekends and how do you not think A&M without thinking about the big game against TU on Thanksgiving? I don’t think it’s a good idea at all, but on the plus side, that will give us a chance to host the LSU/A&M game every other year with our Louisiana peeps! So while it truly scares me to compete in the SEC, it provides us with the opportunity to go to A&M more often and another reason to go back to Baton Rouge! Brian told me that I needed to choose a side and choose the side with our family. I’ve been an Aggie my whole life and I’m not about to change my mind now just because they are going to possibly play LSU every year. Who doesn’t love a little competition amongst family? I guess its time to get a house divided flag. I’d be proud of Alexis no matter which school she chooses. Deep down, I know her Daddy will too. They are both great schools and I just can’t wait to share the A&M tradition with Alexis as she grows up. She will learn to love both teams and in the end and she will be the one making the decision, not us!
This weekend we went back to Jerry World for the LSU/Oregon game. It was the first time we haven’t tailgated and we weren’t really sure of our plan. And for Mommy, no plan makes me nervous. I hate going into a day without a plan laid out, it makes me feel out of control. But it all worked out for the best. We stayed with the Hagartys and they watched Alexis while we went to the game. On Saturday we loaded up all the kids and met the Mozingos for lunch. This was Mike and Mary’s first time to meet A and she loved them both. She went to them like she’d known them forever. Their twins were born 3 days before she was so we can’t wait for them to get a chance to play together, even though they outweigh her by a good ten pounds! After lunch we went back to their hotel for some drinks and caught a ride with Mary’s family on a bus to the stadium. Somehow we ended up at a bar with free drinks and Brian worked the grill to cook his bacon wrapped duck. I mean, seriously? How does my husband always talk his way into these situations? It was a great game and we are already looking forward to next weekend. A special thanks goes out to the Hagartys for watching our Boo while we went to the game. As usual she was a rock star!
